Inaugural Blog Post

Though we’re still getting the Podcast up and running, we’re already getting requests to kick off SOMETHING as soon as possible, so for you folks here’s a teaser trailer of sorts for what to expect from the blog and podcast.

I don’t know how long this has been floating around, but I just saw this video on YouTube.

Holy Jesus mother of god he said the ‘F’ word!  Hide the women and children before it’s too late!  Broadcast standards aside, CNN is a cable channel and thusly not bound by the FCC.  Ok, I get that the cable channels have a voluntary moratorium of sorts because they don’t want the FCC to try to extend its reach (though it’s trying anyway), but CNN is a news organization.  It rightfully earned the label ‘The most trusted name in news,’ but the powers that be at CNN have fallen asleep at the wheel trying to compete with Fox News.  Why?  Fox News is what it is, but what it’s not is a news organization.  It is opinion and propaganda dressed up as news.  I don’t say that as a knock on Fox News; my support to the First Amendment is unwavering, especially when I disagree with them or, as in this case, think they’re a joke.  CNN should set a higher standard for the truth, for reality.

Am I to believe that the middle aged anchor has never heard nor used ‘fuck?’  Impossible, I say.  Am I to believe that CNN has a large conservative audience, the group most likely to be offended or take issue with the use of said word?  Who do they think is watching Fox News?

Philosophical questions aside, Dice has been doing the same shtick for 20 years, what did they expect when they interviewed him?  A kinder, gentler Andrew Dice Clay?  Can such a thing exist?  SHOULD such a thing exist?  I think not on both counts.

The podcast truly began to develop years ago when my comedic partner and best friend, Kyle, and I came up with a TV show staring us entitled ‘Shit Talkers.’  The idea was for Kyle and I to deliver our opinions to the masses in our inimitable way; unfiltered, unabashed, shameless truth.  Though the title evolved, the spirit lives on in I’m Just Saying: The Podcast.  Each week we aim to entertain our soon to be loyal listeners with our unfiltered views of the world and mass media.  Our show couldn’t exist on TV or radio because even reality has to be filtered to protect our fragile ears and minds.  Dice lasted just over a minute on CNN, we’d never see the light of day.

But thanks to the Wild West that is the Internets we cannot be held back, we cannot be contained.  Watch this space in the coming weeks for regular blog posts and, very soon, podcasts delivered off the cuff As We See It.

So here’s to Andrew Dice Clay, George Carlin, Lenny Bruce and every other guy that stood up and spoke his piece in the face of repercussions reserved for the most vile among us.  Without them, there could be no us.  We hope we do an honor to your legacies.

I love what I see already, can’t wait for more stuff. But I don’t know if I can wait a whole week for the next one. I know you all have jobs, but find someway to make this pay you. Or is that this is a way to find the audience and go from there? Right on. Kyle, no bouncer jokes! Especially about me gettig punched in the nose by women.
