Man walks from Texas to Wash. with 12-foot cross

A man walking from Texas to his hometown in Washington state has had a cross to bear for months.

ABERDEEN, Wash. —A man walking from Texas to his hometown in Washington state has had a cross to bear for months.

James Strickland says he’s been dragging a 12-foot cross from Longview, Texas, to his Aberdeen home since May.

The 39-year-old says he was praying about his troubled past when he received a message to start walking on a journey of renewal. He took along the cross, which rolls on wheels with his belongings tied near the bottom.

He expects to reach home Tuesday or Wednesday. Strickland says the trek has taken him through Texas, Oklahoma, Colorado, Utah and Idaho.

He says he hopes to reconcile with the mother of his two children.

Aberdeen police Capt. John Green told KXRO-AM that Strickland also has several misdemeanor warrants to clear up.

Does this really surprise anybody? A man with warrants out for him drags a 12 foot cross from Texas to Washington on foot because he was told to do it while praying? And, he wants to reconcile with the mother of his two kids. This just makes me wonder whos going to get to him first, the police captain or the guys in the white coats.

What did he really accomplish by dragging a cross across 5 states? How did this somehow make his life better? How can he even afford to do this? Is he rich? I don’t know how old his two kids are but maybe he should be working to pay child support instead of dragging a cross around the country because some voice, that only he heard, told him to do so. Freaking Nutjob should be sterilized before he embarrases more than the two kids he has already.

With that I’ll leave you with a video from the late, great George Carlin on the Ten Commandments.

Kyle, he found the lord, obviously that fixes everything… Ooobviously. He found the strength to walk so far, maybe he also found the strength to face his demons back home… or he realized he is better off in jail – or a nut house as you said. Free food, free tv, a gym to work out in. Dude my hotel offers all of that and we charge nearly $200 a night – ‘m just sayin

Okay, I found what George Carlin to say awsome. As far as the idiot listening to a voice in his head, he is in need of some mental health. Maybe Washington state has a better plan for that than Texas? Either way, he needs to go to jail, get mental health and pay his child support. I’m just saying
